About the Director

Jason Max Ferdinand serves as the Director of Choral Activities at the University of Maryland, College Park. A native of Trinidad & Tobago, Ferdinand received his Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance from Oakwood College (now Oakwood University), his Master of Arts in Choral Conducting from Morgan State University, and his Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from the University of Maryland.

This malleable ensemble contains a wide range of professionals that range from award winning artists and singers, to lawyers and college professors. The ensemble is on a mission to promote black excellence through choral literature of contrasting styles, while advocating for inclusion, diversity, and unity within our various societies throughout the world.

How do I purchase President's Concert tickets?

Tickets are available to purchase as an add-on with convention registration. You may also purchase tickets onsite with cash, check, or credit card by visiting the information booth at convention.

Where do I pick up my President's Concert tickets?
  • Wednesday, 1 p.m.–6:00 p.m.: Information Booth in Convention Registration
  • Wednesday, 6:30–8 p.m.: Inside the convention center, near the Lila Cockrell Theatre Hallway
Are there assigned seats the President's Concert?

No, all seats are general admission. Doors open by 7:00 p.m.

Does Lila Cockrell Theatre have wheelchair accessible seating?
There are designated accessible seating areas in the front and back of the Orchestra seating level.
Are refunds available for President's Concert tickets?

No, all sales are final. Refunds will not be provided for unclaimed tickets.

Despite their relatively recent formation, the JFMS have already graced stages worldwide including an electrifying performance with Coldplay on Saturday Night Live, collaborations with Jacob Collier, and a concert at the American Choral Directors Association Conference.

First conceived in 2001 by Jason Max Ferdinand and later postponed by global events, the group’s journey to this stage is a testament to their perseverance and passion. JMFS mission is using creativity, excellence, and innovation through performance to reach hearts and minds.
