Course Description

It’s time to tackle the challenge of managing your freshman or junior-varsity-level high school choirs with diverse experience levels. With years of middle school choir experience, Michelle Hank will offer effective strategies to balance the needs of true beginners and other students, ensuring all remain engaged and motivated. Learn practical approaches to quickly assessing skill levels, differentiating instruction, and using ear training and warmups to build essential musical skills for everyone. She will also explore how to select and adapt repertoire to accommodate various skill levels, allowing all students to be appropriately challenged during rehearsal, resulting in excellent performance. Create a positive and inclusive environment through team building, peer support, and creative teaching methods. Gain actionable tools and resources to “balance the scales” and foster a dynamic choir where every student can thrive.
