Course Description

As you begin to develop or continue to refine your interviewing skills, Dr. Joe Clark and Dinah Menger offer their insights about what sells and what helps you present yourself in a positive and professional manner. Interviewing can be daunting and overwhelming, so learn from their experiences interviewing and hiring teachers. They will discuss the application process, professional perception and poise, résumé pointers, interview preparation, possible scenarios and questions in an interview, and the follow up. 

About the Presenters

Dr. Joe Clark is the Director of Performing and Visual Arts for Spring ISD. Prior to his work in administration, Dr. Clark served as a band director in Spring ISD and Industrial ISD. As a fine arts education and arts integration advocate, Dr. Clark remains active as a clinician, lecturer, and mentor for teachers and fine arts administrators. He served as a President of Texas Fine Arts Administrators and Co-Chair of Texas Arts Educators Campaign. Dr. Clark earned his B.M. in music and his M.M. in conducting from Sam Houston State University and his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston.  Dr. Clark is a member of Phi Beta Mu, Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, TMEA, TBA, and TMAA. 

Dinah Menger recently retired as the Director of Vocal and Elementary Music for the Fort Worth ISD, overseeing 134 music programs. Prior to her appointment in Fort Worth, Menger served as conductor/lecturer at Baylor University and was the Arlington HS Choir Director. Menger’s passion for public school education led her to organizations that promote and support equitable fine arts programs. She has served in leadership roles with TMEA, the UIL Prescribed Music Committee, TMAA, and Texas Fine Arts Administrators and is a member of TMEA, TCDA, ACDA, SAI. Menger received her BFA as a Graduate of Distinction from the University of Arizona and her Masters in Conducting from Texas State University.
